My name is Travis Pflanz. I create websites & digital marketing strategies so small businesses can compete with large businesses online.
As a small business owner, I understand the struggles of running and growing a business from the ground up. I understand that small businesses must evaluate every dollar spent, to help maximize return, grow sales, and grow a customer base.
With every project I take on, I take the approach that a business’s website must be the central hub of a digital marketing machine. Developing a solid strategy around a business’s target and ideal customers and website, service, and/or product content is crucial to the success of every business’s website – I will never throw-up a website, just to “get it done.” That is not the right strategy for success.
Successful digital marketing projects begin by creating a strategy by identifying the project’s goals, researching the competition and target customer, setting expectations and setting methods for measuring the success of the project. Then, continue to monitor and improve the marketing strategy and website to evolve with market trends and customer expectations.
I take on clients who understand that a website is much more than an online brochure. My clients want and expect a higher level of service – an ongoing and continually evolving digital marketing relationship – helping each of our businesses grow and succeed.

The Birth of Search Centered Digital Marketing
Inevitably, one of the first questions every potential client asks is – “How did you get into web design?” While attending University of Missouri – Kansas City in the Business Administration (with an Emphasis in Finance) program, I started taking web development classes as electives. I first began developing websites as a hobby for friends, and to keep the history of my fantasy football league (pretty nerdy motivation, right?). Quickly, I realized I could merge my marketing and business acumen with my passion for building websites – Web Works of Kansas City was officially born in 2007 with my first paying client, a small restaurant in Olathe, KS. Then, in 2012, the company became Web Works of Kansas City, LLC.
In 2018, I realized that I needed a new brand if I wanted to grow my business outside the Kansas City area. Search Centered Digital Marketing LLC was born in February 2019. The Search Centered philosophy is simple – EVERY single marketing strategy for businesses MUST start with search engine optimization and complementary strategies to attract and land customers and clients who are actively searching for the business’s products and services. Yes, we offer social media management services, marketing automation services, web design & development services – and more – but every single project starts with SEO at the center.
Within “the industry,” I am an organizer of the local Kansas City WordPress professionals and enthusiasts group – WordPress KC (I built this site) – and an organizer for the WordPress conference – WordCamp Kansas City (I work on this site). I am also a member of KC Businesses professionals group and a 1 Million Cups Kansas City Caffeinator.
Outside of the industry – I love dogs. I have 3 – Mia is a 16 year-old rat terrier. Portia is a 12 year-old Jack Russel terrier, Australian cattle dog mix. Sophie is a 8 year-old pointer mix. I volunteer weekly at Wayside Waifs humane society training new volunteers and am a member of the Spay & Neuter KC Advisory Council. Also, I am the lead organizer of the Kansas City Dog Club (I also built this site).
