A lot of developers outside the WordPress community, and many within, say they hate the WordPress platform because it is extremely vulnerable to attacks from hackers. The truth is, WordPress itself, is not nearly as vulnerable as outdated plugins.

Just two days ago, the FBI advised WordPress website owners to make sure their websites are update and secure, as the terrorist group ISIS attacked more than a million WordPress websites through vulnerabilities of many outdated WordPress plugins.

Moral of the story: Keep your WordPress website up to date. If you don’t know how, hire someone to keep your WordPress website up to date!

Stay Ahead of WordPress Hackers

To help myself stay ahead of the curve and up to date with the latest WordPress vulnerabilities, I have created a nice IFTTT.com recipe to automatically send me an email any time a new WordPress vulnerability is discovered

If new WordPress vulnerability is discovered, send email – IFTTT recipe monitors the wpvulndb.com RSS feed and automatically sends me an email when they add a new WordPress vulnerability.

Please feel free to use this recipe and keep yourself updated to all newly discovered WordPress vulnerabilities.

When a new vulnerability is discovered, simply take a look at your WordPress plugins; if you have a vulnerable plugin, update it immediately!

New to IFTTT?

If This Then That is a free service that allows you to setup automated actions using many popular web/internet services, such as: email, RSS, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Buffer, eBay, Dropbox, internet connected devices, and many more!

IFTTT offers many published recipes (such as If new WordPress vulnerability is discovered, send email), or you can create your own.

Simply, authorize the services, called “Channels,” you want to use, then begin using public recipes or creating your own.
